Published by the innovative, Melbourne-based Sabian. They are from original drawings by Murwillumbah artist Penny Chesney. Penny was inspired by the Sabian range of Australian Native Tree Essences. Each essence corresponds with one of thirteen Lunar months, and connects the user to a particular Australian tree, animal, bird, insect, mineral, and plant (moss or fern) for that month - depicted beautifully and accurately in Penny's thirteen drawings. In card format, they make convenient meditative and diagnostic aids. The attractively-produced, blue-covered book accompanying them contains advice to practitioners,
several layouts for using the cards, and detailed counsels from each of the "kingdom collectives" (native species) for each Lunar month.
The cards are reproduced in the book as full colour plates. The complete set of book and cards is packaged in a strong plastic box and includes a vibrant orange silk wrap The essences are available world-wide through trained practitioners. However you do not need to be a practitioner to use the cards for your personal benefit, and you do not need to be taking the essences. Sabian has developed ways of using the cards, either in conjunction with the essences or on their own, as "a tool for personal enhancement."
The counsels are powerful and effective, worth accessing in their own right. Two sets of esoteric symbols which appear on the cards can also be used independently for self-healing. A delightful earlier booklet, "Tree Essences for the Journey", sensitively illustrated by Melbourne artist Hwa Rogers, contained channelled counsels from the Tree Spirits and Overlighting Devas associated with each essence. The new book includes these counsels and illustrations as well.
